Life in the Forbidden City as one of the king's many concubines is anything but easy. Without attention from the king, one cannot rise through the ranks and is looked down on and neglected by even the servants. However, if one manages to seduce the king, she soon becomes the target of other women's jealousy. If she is pregnant, she must fear for her and her unborn's life as higher ranked consorts and hidden enemies seek to eliminate her as a potential threat to their position.
